PAUH PUTRA, 19 October 2023 – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) held the Malaysia ICT Volunteer (MIV) Certificate Presentation Ceremony with Higher Education Institutions and the launching of the Click Wisely Carnival 2023.
UniMAP’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ts Dr. Zaliman Sauli, stated that 44 volunteers from the Faculty of Business and Communication at UniMAP received recognition and appreciation after successfully carrying out 147 volunteer activities, reaching a total audience of 28,000 and contributing a cumulative total of 1,844 volunteer hours.
He mentioned that students participating in the workshop would become agents spreading awareness about internet safety to society.
"This engagement is a very commendable effort as it can spark change for a more knowledgeable society regarding internet usage and improve our society altogether, which is in line with the nation's digital revolution," he said while delivering his speech at the Malaysia ICT Volunteer (MIV) Certificate Presentation Ceremony with Higher Education Institutions and the launching of the Click Wisely Carnival 2023 at the Dewan Kecemerlangan here.
Meanwhile, one of the volunteers from the Faculty of Business and Communication (FPK), Siti Nur Hidayah Ibrahim, said that the workshop which held from June to September 2023 has provided her and her friends with valuable experiences.
"It is a way to help the community by providing knowledge and public awareness to not simply click on any Internet links without verifying them first based on their authenticity.
"The community is encouraged to ensure the authenticity of the information and obtain valid links by browsing through official government websites," she explained.
Initially, the Click Wisely Carnival 2023 has provided exposure to the entire UniMAP community and the public surrounding UniMAP on proper internet usage which are positive, productive, and responsible.
The Click Wisely initiative by MCMC is an effort to educate and raise public awareness about internet safety and protection, as well as to reduce cybercrime victims.
