PAUH PUTRA, 5 October 2023 – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) made history when the university's TVET Center was awarded Malaysia's Best for Professional TVET Certification at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards (META) 2023.
META 2023, held at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, was graced by the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Tuan Mustapha bin Sakmud.
UniMAP's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli, was present to receive the award, accompanied by UniMAP's Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and International Affairs, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Shukry bin Abdul Majid Matsyuk Majid, and the Director of UniMAP's TVET Centre, Prof. Ts. Dr. Azremi Abdullah Al-Hadi.
META 2023 aims to honour and recognise educational entities, businesses, and personalities in Malaysia that have excelled in providing the best formal education.
Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Zaliman stated that this achievement brings glory as it demonstrates UniMAP's ability to produce highly skilled individuals in line with the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
"Furthermore, TVET is seen as a catalyst for the government to meet the industry's needs in Malaysia," he said.
This recognition also extends to institutions or departments that offer education or training in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
TVET has become a key agenda in education in Malaysia that was introduced to meet industry demands and contribute to economic growth, technological advancement, and global workforce mobility.
At UniMAP, efforts to support this national agenda began with the establishment of academic programs that incorporate various skill elements which are Diploma in Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering Technology, and Bachelor of Technology.
